What types of Pilates do you offer at Statera?

Statera offers 5 types of Pilates, often combined in private sessions and small group classes for improved strength, core stability, balance, flexibility, and sometimes cardio fitness.

Equipment-based Pilates uses an apparatus called the reformer and tower that utilize pulleys with added resistance from the participant’s own body weight with graduated levels of springs.  Other large in-studio equipment includes the Pilates chair and ladder barrel.

Mat Pilates is primarily on a mat on the floor. Smaller pieces of Pilates equipment are often used during mat work to add resistance or develop balance. Examples include dumbbells, resistance bands, exercise balls, foam rollers, weighted therapy balls, and the Pilates ring.

Oov Pilates uses the Oov for a unique challenge to balance and core strength. The Oov is an apparatus made out of durable foam that challenges you to find new strategies to control your movement by improving your balance and stability. The curves of the Oov are designed to lengthen the spine and destabilize the body; it puts the body in a position where it is never at rest.

Chair Pilates uses the Pilates chair apparatus. The chair is essentially a box (usually made of wood) with a padded seat on top and a pedal attached to one side by springs. These springs allow for the tension of the pedal to be adjusted to make exercises easier or more difficult. Depending on the model of chair, the pedal is either in one piece or split down the middle. A split pedal makes the equipment more versatile and supports rotation-type movements. Two detachable handles are attached on either side of the box. These can be used to make the chair either a more supportive or a more challenging piece of equipment for the user.

ZEN•GA is a unique blend of Pilates, yoga, and meditation. Privates and classes often incorporate the use of the reformer and tower, as well as other large or small apparatus. Strengthen both body and mind by pairing intentional movement with deep breathing.
